Family nurse practitioners are primary care providers, so we can diagnose and manage any primary care concern. Just as primary care physicians, when you have advanced disease that might benefit from a consultation with a specialist, then we can provide that referral. We can then work together to determine what the best plan is moving forward with your individualized treatment plan. Chronic disease is my speciality and add to that a functional and integrative approach, I really feel like is the best approach to primary care.
Most Common Clinical Visit
The most common diagnosis among our clientele is potentially more mental health, such as anxiety and depression, panic attacks, even ADHD, but also weight loss, high blood pressure, diabetes, arthritis, back pain, dermatitis, thyroid disease and a variety of autoimmune diseases or infectious disease, such as chronic fatigue syndrome, fibromyalgia, mold exposure, Lyme disease, liver disease, and Lupus, even hormone health and sexual health. Check out my blog to find a plethora of conditions I have addressed in my practice just in the past few years, but also, here are the courses I've created to help clients through more significant trials, each educating clients on underlying issues and how to resolve, and really heal.
Convenience Care
Certainly there are moments when I might jump on the phone or even telemedicine to talk a client through a quick illness or injury, these visits aren't as common as they might be in other primary care clinics, or especially so for convenience care clinics. The primary reason is that our clients are well educated and equipped to manage many of these issues themselves. I have created a plethora of resources in our wellness programs which is offered at no additional fee, exclusively for active clients. Botanical or more natural remedies are our first choice, but if antibiotics are warranted, we can provide those as well.
Admittedly, my clients are quite discerning; they are those individuals who think critically and outside the box. They respect that more often what the body needs when ill, is not antibiotics, but instead lots of support. Fever is not an illness, right? We talk about rest, replenishing the body, identifying and eliminating the trigger, and offering a bit of patience. Certainly, we keep in touch through recovery and I like to assure clients are on the right path.
Wellness Care
None of this though really dives into true healthcare. Yes, we address gut health, diet, movement, epigenetics, and toxins, even detoxifying in a medical model, but true wellness also explores your journey, your purpose, your story, your traumas, somatic healing, and your relationships, with people and nature. We have so much to offer in this regard. I hike with you. Teach yoga to my clients several times a week for no additional fee. We gather in solidarity and support, without judgment. We get into nature, dabble with medicinal herbs, get creative, we work out together and explore new ideas in a variety of workshops.
